The Gender Training Platform hosts live, interactive, virtual courses about gender equality and social justice for people and organizations working toward social, economic, and political change. Trainings on the platform bring together theory, research, and practice, creating spaces where participants can learn critical feminist knowledge along with ways to apply that knowledge into their work.

We are taking a break from August 2024-February 2025. More information coming soon!

All trainings are designed, delivered, and owned by independent trainers who are experts in their field and passionate about creating original, nuanced, and interactive learning experiences.

We’ve trained professionals from a range of international organizations including Mercy Corps, The Malala Fund, Oxfam, CARE, GIZ, Chemonics, Save the Children, the Clinton Foundation, UNDP, UNESCO, Global Communities, DAI, The Palladium Group, and War Child Holland.

We offer scholarships and discounts so that well-resourced institutions pay more than individuals and organizations with fewer resources. Click on each training for more information about prices and discounts.

Accolades

Fantastic experience and loads of learning with Lindsey Jones-Renaud and Sara Abdel as the awesome facilitators of the Gender Specialist Bootcamp. Recommended for all gender professionals
— Ritesh Datta, Participant in the Gender Specialist Bootcamp - June 2021
I whole-heartedly recommend this course to anyone working within these sectors and want to know how to integrate and implement a post-colonial perspective. It’s imperative to have this knowledge if we have any chance of dismantling power hierarchies within global North-South relationships.
— Angelica Krauwer, Participant in Decolonizing M&E and Research with Michelle Lokot
The How to Be a Gender Trainer course with Lucy Ferguson on the Cynara Gender Training Platform has been an incredible opportunity to reconnect with my career as a gender analyst and consultant. For an entire week, we immersed ourselves in theoretical and practical tools to design and lead workshops and courses in a dynamic and participatory way. Learning by doing, validating experiences, and having a “safe-brave” space to co-create critical thinking among all the participants, allowed me to incorporate the fundamental principles of feminist pedagogies. The course also opened the doors for me to expand my networks internationally.
— Susan Cabezas Cartes, Participant in How to Be a Gender Trainer with Lucy Ferguson
Afaf Al-Khoshman guided us gently whilst we explored decolonised approaches to the design of gender equality and gender integrated programs in Muslim-majority countries while learning from feminist movements in the Muslim world. It was the most powerful, intimate and eye-opening workshop I have participated in so far and I want to say thank you to everyone who was there.
— Agatha A. Appleton-Sas, participant in Gender Feminism and Islam: Guidance for humanitarian and development professionals
I can’t express how relevant this workshop and activities were. It was amazing to have the space away from work to reflect on these themes and their practical implications. The attendees were so engaged and I appreciate that.
— Participant, Liberatory Aid (formerly Decolonizing Development) with Farah Mahesri
I was so lucky to participate in the training on Gender, Peacebuilding and Human Security with Urooj Mian. The course is very relevant for everyone. The knowledge it provided is especially useful for me in my current work and I know it will also be a good asset for my future jobs. I apply what I learned regularly at work but also in my personal life as I have gained a deeper understanding of intersectionality and applying a gendered approach.
— Marte Sørensen, participant in Gender, Peacebuilding, and Human Security with Urooj Mian
I had the absolute privilege of undertaking Cynara’s Gender Specialist Bootcamp with a group of inspiring and open-hearted women from around the world. The course introduced me to new frameworks and lenses to ensure gender equality and social inclusion approaches can become more integral to my work. Moreover, Lindsey Jones-Renaud and Sara Abdel opened my eyes to more caring, gentle and inclusive forms of facilitation that I hope to carry forth in my own work.
— Participant, Gender Specialist Bootcamp - January 2022
This class is a perfect introduction for those interested in making sure digital technologies are used in an ethical and socially just way moving forward. It gives you a strong foundation from which to build upon in so many different ways and across multiple sectors.
— Participant, Ethical Artificial Intelligence with Emily Springer
