Theoretical topics to be covered include feminist participatory methodologies, quality standards in gender training, and the role of gender training in broader change processes. There will be plenty of opportunities for participants to put the learnings into practice by delivering sessions and activities for their peers. The course will also address key challenges involved in gender training, and how these can be addressed. Following the course, participants should be confident to deliver gender training in their organizations or independently.

All participants will receive a participants’ manual with key terms, resources, and templates. They will also be invited to join a worldwide network of fellow course alumni, which includes periodic free mutual learning and exchange workshops.

The “How to become a Gender Trainer” course with Lucy Ferguson on the Cynara Gender Trainer Platform has been an incredible opportunity to reconnect with my career as a gender analyst and consultant. For an entire week, we immersed ourselves in theoretical and practical tools to design and lead workshops and courses in a dynamic and participatory way. Learning by doing, validating experiences, and having a “safe-brave” space to co-create critical thinking among all the participants, allowed me to incorporate the fundamental principles of feminist pedagogies. The course also opened the doors for me to expand my networks internationally. Thanks to the facilitation of Lucy and all the participants, today I feel much more prepared and confident about being able to lead future courses and consultancies on gender and social inclusion. Finally, Cynara has a recognized prestige in the area of gender training, which has given a plus to my CV and Linkedin profile.

The Gender Training Platform hosts interactive, live online courses about gender equality and social justice topics for people and organizations working in international and community development, humanitarian, human rights, and philanthropic sectors. All trainings are designed, delivered, and owned by independent trainers who are experts in their field and passionate about creating original, nuanced, and interactive learning experiences. We’ve trained professionals from a range of international organizations including Mercy Corps, Global Communities, DAI, The Malala Fund, GIZ, Chemonics, Save the Children, and War Child Holland. We offer a tiered payment structure so that well-resourced institutions pay more than individuals and organizations with fewer resources.
