Description: This virtual, live, and interactive training explores critical ways to incorporate an intersectional feminist lens into pre- and post-disaster assessments. The impacts of disasters vary among population groups, disproportionately affecting those with multiple marginalized identities within a context such as those related to gender, age, disability, socioeconomic status, and others. Moreover, disasters are compounding while climate change worsens. Trainees will learn how to apply a feminist and intersectional approach to disaster- and climate-related assessments in order to identify the inequities and gaps that contribute to context-specific vulnerabilities. Trainees will also explore ways to develop action plans—whether organizational, project-based, or national— based on intersectional feminist assessments to help guide sustainable efforts to reduce inequities and related disaster risks.
