Join this interactive workshop to explore practices, skills, and research around how to engage men for gender equality. You will explore principles of accountability, the benefits, strategies, and methods for engaging men for gender equality and will learn how these have been utilized in global and community development contexts. Participants will practice applying what they've learned to a project they are working on or a case study of their choice.

Trainer: Piotr Pawlak, Gender Equality and Male Engagement Expert Dr. Piotr (Peter) Pawlak is an independent development specialist and a senior gender and masculinity expert working with multilateral development partners globally. He is a researcher and published author and co-author of numerous reports on engaging men and boys - alongside women and girls - for gender equality, women’s empowerment and transforming harmful social and gender norms. He designed, tested and evaluated multiple educational curricula to engage men and boys in gender equality including in child nutrition and health, caregiving, and ending GBV. Piotr holds a Ph.D. in Human Rights and Peace Studies from Mahidol University, Thailand. His doctoral research examined how the changing conception of Maldivian masculinity contributes to gender inequitable attitudes and behaviors among young men in the Maldives.

Fees: We use a redistributive pricing model which means that organizations and individuals with more resources pay more money so that we can fund scholarships for organizations and individuals with less resources. Tier 1 and Tier 2 rates are higher in order to help cover the costs of Tier 3 and Tier 4 scholarship rates.

  • Tier 1: $810 for institutions with annual budgets of greater than $4 million USD. Sale through September 25th on Tier 1 price: Take $200 off

  • Tier 2: $695 through May 31 for (a) Individuals who work for institutions with annual budgets that are less than $4 million USD; or (b) individuals who are consultants, freelancers, or otherwise self-employed; or (c) individuals who are employed but self-paying.   • Tier 3 Scholarship: $385 for students and early career professionals who are self-paying. Scholarships are limited. Apply here.

  • Tier 4 Scholarship: $100 for those who need financial aid. Scholarships are limited. Apply here.

  • Accommodation Scholarship. This scholarship covers the cost of an accommodation a participant may need to fully participate, such as translation or sign language interpretation. It does not cover the cost of participation. The scholarship amount depends on the accommodation that is needed. Apply here.
