Mobilizing Men to Transform Restrictive Gender Norms: Strategies and practices for program implementation

This training course will provide you with relevant knowledge and practical skills to mobilize men to transform restrictive social norms that uphold gender inequality. You will explore principles of accountability, the benefits, strategies, and methods for engaging men for gender equality and will learn how these have been utilized in global and community development contexts. Participants will practice applying what they've learned to a project they are working on or a case study of their choice.

Trainer: Piotr Pawlak, Gender Equality and Male Engagement Expert Dr. Piotr (Peter) Pawlak is an independent development specialist and a senior gender and masculinity expert working with multilateral development partners globally. He is a researcher and published author and co-author of numerous reports on engaging men and boys - alongside women and girls - for gender equality, women’s empowerment and transforming harmful social and gender norms. He designed, tested and evaluated multiple educational curricula to engage men and boys in gender equality including in child nutrition and health, caregiving, and ending GBV. Piotr holds a Ph.D. in Human Rights and Peace Studies from Mahidol University, Thailand. His doctoral research examined how the changing conception of Maldivian masculinity contributes to gender inequitable attitudes and behaviors among young men in the Maldives.

Fees:
We offer a sliding fee scale to make the training accessible to individuals not backed by heavily resourced organizations.
Tier 1: $575 for institutions with annual budgets of greater than $50 million USD
Tier 2: $525 for individuals who are consultants and do not meet Tier 3 or 4 eligibility Individuals who work for organizations with an annual budget that is less than $50 million USD a year. Use discount code NORMS002

Tier 4: $100 for individuals who are from a low- or middle-income country as designated by The World Bank and who meet one of the of the following criteria:
